Foundation Reinforcement
Core-Fill
Core-Fill or Solid-Fill is a process where we fill the Foundation Block Cavity with Concrete Grout and Reinforced with Rebar to Form a Solid Poured Foundation Wall.
This repair is typically recommended for horizontal cracks and walls that have minimal bowing ie. (< 2″ inwards)
Although hollow core concrete block has high compressive strength, unreinforced hollow core block shear strength and average tensile strength is approximately 10 percent of its compressive strength.
As a result, many will move due to pressures of earth loading from excessive water, frost damage or nearby passage of vehicles.
Horizontal displacement or “shear failures” is very common in older homes built with 8” concrete masonry units. (CMU)
